Clinical Operations and Education Coordinator - Registered Nurse

We are seeking a hands-on registered nurse professional to lead clinical staff development, workflow optimization, and operational excellence across an ambulatory care practice. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, this highly visible leadership role combines clinical education, staff coaching, quality improvement, and daily operational oversight to enhance patient flow, provider efficiency, and overall clinical performance.

Role Overview

• Serve as the clinical operations leader responsible for staff education, workflow improvement, and quality initiatives.
• Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to nursing and clinical support staff.
• Monitor daily patient flow, room utilization, provider support, and operational efficiency.
• Lead onboarding, competency assessments, and clinical training programs.
• Identify workflow challenges and implement process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and quality standards.
• Act as a visible leader on the clinical floor, supporting staff and resolving operational issues in real time.
• Partner with nursing leadership to drive continuous improvement and enhance patient care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain clinical training programs, competency checklists, and onboarding materials.
• Conduct staff observations, competency assessments, and performance coaching.
• Monitor patient throughput, room utilization, and provider efficiency.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement operational improvements.
• Support clinical staff during high-volume periods and assist with patient care as needed.
• Standardize clinical workflows across departments and service lines.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor quality metrics and partner with leadership on improvement initiatives.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, and a culture of continuous learning.
• Maintain documentation related to training, competency validation, and performance improvement efforts.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of ambulatory care or outpatient clinical experience required.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, preceptor, or staff training experience.
• Experience improving workflows, patient flow, and clinical operations.
• Strong background in staff education, coaching, and competency development.
• Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an FQHC or community health center.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW).
• Lean, Six Sigma, or workflow/process improvement experience.
• Experience managing staff education and competency validation programs.
